has developed an excellent reputation as an ideal destination to spend
an extended holiday or a golfing weekend. The main reason for the success
has been the quality of service and the variety of activities available
for adults and children alike. These include indoor and outdoor pools,
sauna, jacuzzis. tennis courts, marina, dining room, lounge, conference
facilities, children's playgrounds and programs, volleyball courts and
a picturesque and very challenging golf course. Wild...exhilarating...an
adventure...these are just a few of the adjectives used to describe this
Dundee, with a slope rating of 132 from the white tees, is second only to Highland Links in difficulty. Architect Robert Moote was presented with an awesome task and responded by carving a splendid course from mountainous terrain. Every hole has its own character and requires accurate shots to narrow landing areas. Familiarity definitely helps to achieve any kind of score on this trek and power carts are recommended for the faint of heart.
Slicers will mishit tee shots down enbankments on holes 11, 12, and 14 while those inclined to hook will meet their fate on holes 5, 8, 15 and 17. Hole number 16, a 401 yard par 4, is the lowest rated hole on the course. It plays much longer then the registered yardage as it is entirely uphill to an elevated green, with a bunker to the right back and a severe slope to the left side of the green. The par 4, 2nd is also the most difficult hole and plays 381 yards with a slight dog-leg right. A sand trap , ditch and pond to the right side of the fairway plus an elevated green make this hole very difficult indeed. Hole number 7, the signature hole, measures 153 yards from the tee high above the green, which is protected by three sand traps - one on either side of the front and one along the back. From this tee the golfer could easily be distracted by the magnificent view of the Bras d'Or Lakes, the largest salt water lake in the world, and the beautiful secluded marina.
